Karma or Something?

Perfectly Sane
I've been having a run of bad luck that has me wondering what I did that was nasty. I know I'm behind on some stuff I was meaning to send off, but I don't think I've tortured or maimed anyone lately...

Husband washed my expensive new phone. I'd deliberately left it in my pocket because I didn't want it to get moist in the bathroom and he snuck in and took a load off to wash. It still has soap scum inside it. I now have a new phone, but lost all my numbers.

A few days after I got my lovely new laptop, my desktop baby died. I lost all my bookmarks, all my email contacts and a whole pile of stuff I adore. Thankfully I transfered my fic and music before it happened. I'll put it in hospital soon and see what happens.

My cable box spat the dummy and refused to work right in the heat of the Stanley Cup Finals. I had to beg a very wonderful friend to tape the games for me.

They said I live too far away and it was going to take a week to get anyone to look at the box. Turned out longer because some idiot cancelled the order. I got it sorted after waiting a whole day for the tech that was going to be here "any moment" at 9am.

We had a ripper of a storm and our house was directly hit so many times I lost count. So much for lightening never striking twice. We had sparks flying out of our power sockets and phone socket. My satellite broadband modem went bang and stopped working. (I'm back to obscenely slow dial up again for now.) I lost a few other minor appliances. The cablebox, which was unplugged on account of not working, but still connected to the satellite dish lit up blue. We managed to watch a Pens game after that...

Arriving at work the next morning, I was met at the gate ad told to shut it as I came in because every paddock had at least one fence down and there were horses missing. 11 hours later they were all accounted for and literally 92% of them had some kind of injury. Two were dead and we had some of the goriest wounds I have ever seen as well as some suspected fractures.

I started holidays the next day and haven't heard what happened with those.

One of my cats has been missing since that day. Come back Juliette, I'm really worried now.

The Pens lost the Cup, which isn't really anything to do with me, but it still made me cry. Yes. I was fragile by that point, okay?

So whoever or whatever I've been horrible to, I'm sorry. I'm starting to get really bored with drama now and I fail to be surprised by anything that goes wrong. Isn't that enough?

*purrs*

I think if people petted me on the bad days, they wouldn't be such bad days.

*makes mental note to demand petting*

Holy WOW! That is some nasty stuff happening.

I swear aren't Hubby's wonderful when they..umm..help? lol I hope he survived unscathed.

Did the storms tear down the fences? That's so horrible about the horses.

I just can't imagine losing so much to storms.

*hugs*

My Hubby is the most wonderful, caring man in the world, but he can't be helpful and think at the same time. It's a man thing, they don't multi task well. lol

The fences came down from a combination of trees falling on them and horses running into/through them. That's how the horses got hurt, too.

Oh it IS a man thing. My Hubby is also wonderful in his own way. But he is constantly amazed at my multi-tasking abilities.

Wow. Just wow. How horrible about the storms and the horses. :(

I think you've surpassed your quota - wishing you 'good stuff' to balance things out. *huggies*

Really sorry to hear that. That's a lot of shit to happen.

Horrible about the horses.

I hope that things will start getting better for you now.

Thanks. I'm sure they will.

It seems the horses with suspected fractures will be okay, but they need time to recover. The worst wound we had is healing very quickly, according to my boss. So there's some good news. :)

That is a relief.

----

I just noticed a weird thing: if I come to your LJ-pages through the message page, I see the post about shit happening. But if I go straight to your LJ, then I don't see it. So going through the message-page allows me to get into a post, that I'm not really allowed to see...?
Troubling thought, that. Sorry if I'm intruding in a place I was not supposed to see. That was not the purpose.

Another thing I noticed: the message-page removes all tags. So the message I sent to you yesterday is a bit cumbersome to read, because all the italic- and bold-tags disappeared.

I'm definitely not an expert about LJ... *winces*

LJ is a very strange place. I don't understand it half the time, but I just muddle through.

The post wasn't locked at all, so you didn't end up anywhere you weren't supposed to be.

Also, your message came out fine at my end. I'll get back to you soon. :)

I can't leave messages in your picture post, so I'll leave it here for you and hope LJ notifies you. :)

Sorry I am so late. I've been a busy, busy girl considering I'm on holidays at the moment.

Those pictures are amazing!

They're so perfect. And the noses! (Yes, I'm stupidly aware of noses now.)

Naturally the Nick one is my favourite. I always loved that photo, but I think I like your version better. It seems more like the light is coming from him, rather than shining on him if you know what I mean.

Simon in the one under Nick. I think you caught a piece of him there.

And the last one of John is perfection. That warm, friendly look in his eye.

I'm in awe. You have an incredible talent.

Yes, LJ gave me a message about your post. Thank you.

Sorry I am so late. I've been a busy, busy girl considering I'm on holidays at the moment.

Which reminds me: I will have my summer holidays from 28th June to 27th July. During that time I will not visit internet nor read my e-mails. So if you want to catch me before 28th July, do it before Friday 27th June.

Those pictures are amazing!

Thank you.

(All the drawings are better looking in reality than in the internet. That is because I have to copy them to a smaller size to be able to scann them, and they always suffer from both the copying and the scanning.)

They're so perfect. And the noses! (Yes, I'm stupidly aware of noses now.)

You are not the first person I have met, who has a problem with drawing noses. Actually, quite a lot of people seem to have the same problem. I have always wondered at that, because in my opinion, the nose it not the hard part. The hardest parts are the proportions of the face and of the details, the eyes. If you get those right, then the rest of it is easy.

Naturally the Nick one is my favourite. I always loved that photo, but I think I like your version better. It seems more like the light is coming from him, rather than shining on him if you know what I mean.

Yes, I know what you mean. It gives him a bit angelic look. Before that pic I had never tried to use light yellow and white on a face. But it worked so well, that I'm definitely trying it again with some other portrait in the future. Maybe an angelic JT? I'm already planning on making a vampire-JT, so angel-JT would suit well as its partner.

Or maybe an angelic Syd Barrett, as I'm going to draw him anyway. (He was such a great looking guy...) A crazy angel, how would that sound to you?

I have a bit quirky sense of humour, so I have for example drawn one of my friend's face to a poster of King Arthur.... He made quite a good King Arthur, actually. *grins*

Simon in the one under Nick. I think you caught a piece of him there.

You know what I myself like the best about that one? The clothes: they really look like silk. Drawing materials is always challenging. The most difficult ones are water, glass and metals. And maybe also smoke.

And the last one of John is perfection. That warm, friendly look in his eye.

That one I actually made as a gift for John himself. That was when they were coming to perform in Stockholm, Sweden. I traveled to Sweden to see them, and took the drawing with me. But as it happened, I never managed to meet the guys. So I still have the thing myself.

I'm in awe. You have an incredible talent.

Thank you again.

Talent is really only a starting point. One needs a lot of practice too. And even then, when you learn more, you also get more and more demanding towards your own work. So it is actually like Nick once said about music in some interview: you are constantly trying to catch something, but never quite manage to catch it. You just constantly pursue it, whatever it is.

A little Teemu update:

Yesterday there was a short interview of Teemu Selänne and Valtteri Filppula on tv. Neither one of them has a contract for the next season in NHL yet. Teemu said something like: "If Anaheim can't pay me because of the salary maximum of the team, then most likely some other team can."

Which sounded like he is going to play next season too, but it might be in some other team, because Anaheim can't afford to pay him. A bit surprising that, considering that Teemu has always been underpaid compared to his skills...

Still no sign of Juliette. We live on a farm and sometimes she takes up residence in different buildings, but she always comes for a cuddle. I haven't seen a trace of her since the storm. All the others are present and accounted for and they all took off outside when the storm hit. I assume they hid under the house.
